For the second consecutive year, Western Carolina University has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction, the highest level of federal recognition for commitment to service and civic engagement.
The developing partnership between WCU and Dillsboro took another step forward recently as town merchants and leaders visited campus to tour laboratories and other facilities, and to find out how WCU students are engaged in assisting the region.
WCU is hosting a statewide conference designed to help students enhance their community involvement at a time when student civic engagement at WCU has reached a significant level, said Glenn Bowen, director of service learning at WCU.
