Reitz presents at music society conference

Christina L. Reitz, WCU associate professor of music, presented her research titled “The Transformative Elements of Higdon’s ‘Cold Mountain’” at the peer-reviewed College Music Society’s National Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Friday, Oct. 28.

“The research explored the Pulitzer Prize winner’s first opera based on Charles Frazier’s novel of the same name,” Reitz said.

The opera, a recipient of a 2016 International Opera Award, comprises the final two chapters of Reitz’s forthcoming book. She also participated in mentoring opportunities through a mock interview with a doctoral candidate at the conference.
