P. Bradley Ulrich, WCU professor of trumpet, will be performing with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in October.
Ulrich will be performing as third trumpet on “Ein Heldenleben” by Richard Strauss, a German composer of the late romantic and early modern era of music. “Strauss composed ‘Ein Heldenleben’ – ‘A Hero’s Life’ – in 1898,” Ulrich said. “It’s a tone poem, consisting of six sections performed as one movement and lasts approximately 50 minutes.”
In addition to performing onstage, Ulrich also will join a trio of trumpets in military fanfares played backstage.
Known locally in the French language also as “Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal,” the Montreal Symphony Orchestra is based in the Montreal Symphony House at Place des Arts, which opened five years ago in the city in Quebec, Canada.
