The Fortress Brass Quintet, an ensemble composed of five music instructors from universities across the country, will visit Western Carolina University to perform a free concert Wednesday, Oct. 26.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Coulter Building recital hall and is open to the public.
The Fortress Brass Quintet includes WCU’s own Bradley Ulrich on trumpet, Eric Yates of the University of Alabama on trumpet, Bradley Kerns of the University of Kentucky on trombone, John McGuire of Colorado State University on horn and Mike Dunn of the University of Colorado on tuba. The ensemble has performed three times in St. Petersburg and Moscow in Russia and has toured Kentucky and Colorado. A goal is to perform in all 50 states of the U.S.
While touring, the quintet provides clinics and lessons to students in addition to performing a wide range of brass repertoire. Each member of the ensemble will give a master class from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. Oct. 26 in the School of Music.
