Robert Steffen, WCU assistant professor of construction management, received accolades for his work as technical chairman for a committee that created an industry manual titled “Guidelines and Recommended Practices for Fiber-Reinforced-Polymer (FRP) Architectural Products.”
William Kreysler, chair of the Architectural Division of the American Composites Manufacturers Association, praised Steffen in a letter to Michael Smith, director of WCU’s Kimmel School of Construction Management.
“Under Robert’s leadership … we have finally published what our peers agree is one of the finest manuals of its kind and the only design guide for architectural composites I know of,” Kreysler wrote.
The ACMA’s website describes it as the largest trade group for the composites industry in the world. The manual can be downloaded free at the link above for a limited time.
Steffen will be conducting a workshop in Asheville on Thursday, Nov. 10, and Friday, Nov. 11, about Fiber Reinforced Polymeric (FRP) Composite Materials.
