Rash named semifinalist for regional literary award; reading, book-signing set for Oct. 2

Ron Rash, WCU’s Parris Distinguished Professor of Appalachian Culture, was recently announced as a semifinalist for the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award, which is presented annually by the Western North Carolina Historical Association.

Rash’s novel “Above the Waterfall” is one of 10 works on the list of semifinalists.

AboveWaterfall_300_450Rash will take part in a reading and book-signing for his latest novel, “The Risen,” at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, in the Community Room of the Jackson County Public Library. City Lights Bookstore and the library are co-sponsoring the event. Copies of “The Risen” can be reserved by calling the bookstore at 828-586-9499.
