Honorary doctorates nomination deadline, Oct. 18

Chancellor David Belcher has announced the call for nominations of individuals to be awarded the Honorary Doctorate by Western Carolina University. A set of guidelines and the nomination form are available at this linkThe deadline for receipt of nominations is Tuesday, October 18.

“It has been my experience that the quality of the nomination packet plays a significant role in the review of the advisory committee,” Belcher said in a memo emailed to faculty and staff members. “Thus, I urge nominators to provide in the nomination materials thoughtful reflections on candidates’ accumulated profiles which will assist reviewers in understanding the merits of the individuals under consideration.  In general, a simple listing of career highlights represents insufficient support.”

Per the guidelines, “all nominations will stay in the file for consideration by the advisory committee for three academic years.”  If you have nominated someone who was not selected, their nomination will automatically be added to the list of nominees for two more years.  There is no need to re-nominate anyone who falls under that category.
