For Students: Emergency Preparedness Workshop, Sept. 28

Please consider sending your students to the Emergency Preparedness workshop this Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Bardo Arts Center, Room 130. Students will learn about on-campus crime statistics and risk prevention strategies, how to report a crime, what to do in an active shooter situation and more.   The flyer for this workshop explains more.

Please keep in mind the additional workshops for students for the remainder of the semester (Please note space is limited for the following workshops and students should RSVP in JobCat 2.0 to guarantee a seat):

Navigating Difficult Conversations

Difficult conversations are never fun to have, but are a necessity in many different situations. Whether you’re dealing with a difficult co-worker, supervisor, parent, or roommate, learn how to navigate those conversations in a productive and positive way.

As a student worker, you DO have rights. Learn what those rights are, as well what your responsibilities are as a student worker, and how to file a grievance report if you need to.

Workplace Etiquette

Don’t be “that person!”  Learn the do’s and don’ts of working in a professional office space, including respecting others’ personal space, lunchroom etiquette, and effective communication strategies (it’s not necessarily what you say, but how you say it!)

Please take special note that the Center for Career and Professional Development has moved to 150 Reid.  Students should enter from the back end of Reid through our entrance, which is facing the road and Reid Lot #30.

Normal student employment hours for new hires has commenced from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning today.  New student hires may complete their hiring packets between 1 and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday only.

Hiring forms are being updated and uploaded online which include our new campus address (please allow time for the new forms to appear online). For questions, call the Center for Career and Professional Development at 828-227-3888.
