Staff members from WCU’s Department of Facilities Management were honored recently during the department’s 2015-16 picnic and awards ceremony. Awardees included:
High-Five Award, honoring an employee who reacts swiftly during a challenging event, resulting in a better outcome due to quick thinking and appropriate action: Michael “Tater” Morgan.
Spotlight Staff Award, for individuals who implement an idea that improves cost-effectiveness, increases efficiency, enhances safety or convenience, promotes financial or environmental sustainability and/or solves a problem on campus in a manner consistent with departmental procedures while promoting collaboration: Jarred Rathbone and Michael “Wheato” Wheatley.
Outstanding Staff Awards, honoring employees who have demonstrated excellent overall performance and outstanding service: Grounds recipient – Tom Roche; Housekeeping recipient – Phillip Bennett; Office recipient – Jeff Hagberg; and Trades recipient – Dave Cowan. The Overall Outstanding Staff of the Year Award was presented to David Nicholson of the grounds crew.
The department’s 2015-16 retirees also were recognized. They are Bill Moore, Alan Sellars, Terry Watson, Jerry Cagle, Steve English, Bill Gates and Rosie Greenwood. Former employees who passed away in the last year are Bill Baumgartner, Gerald “Slim” Seagle and Ed “Big Ed” Buchanan.
