The hospital and Jackson County Public Health will be partnering with Western Carolina University for our September Tuesdays to Thrive. The event will be held at the Health & Human Sciences Building on WCU’s campus on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Please RSVP by Friday, Sept. 16.

Mosquitoes! Come learn about mosquito-borne diseases such as Zika by visiting WCU’s Mosquito & Vector-borne Infectious Disease laboratory.   Students and faculty will guide participants in “hands-on” activities and demonstrations to educate participants about best practices to reduce mosquito-borne disease risk.

Water Quality! Join us as we evaluate the health of local surface waters at WCU. Participants will engage in guided activities that examine chemical and biological indicators of water quality to demonstrate the value of water resource protection and management in Western North Carolina.
