Leadership Academy Application are now being accepted

Applications for the 2016-2017 Leadership Academy cohort are now being accepted.

The WCU Leadership Academy seeks to identify and develop campus leaders who are dedicated to supporting the mission of WCU. The WCU Leadership Academy is a year-long program for 12 members of WCU’s full-time faculty and staff.

The WCU Leadership Academy was founded to:

  1. Enhance the leadership, communication, strategic, interpersonal, and managerial skills of faculty and staff on the WCU campus.
  2. Prepare leaders who can guide the university through challenges and opportunities as we achieve the goals of our 2020 Strategic plan. 
  3. Build professional relationships among current and future leaders of the university.
  4. Invest in our people through meaningful opportunities for professional development.
  5. Strengthen WCU’s role as a steward of place and increasing partnerships between WCU and the region.

As a reminder, participants in the Academy agree to attend all of the following sessions, retreats, and Leadership Tour. We encourage all participants to share these dates with your supervisor and receive prior approval to attend.

  • September 23, 2016: Academy Session (12-2pm)
  • October 7, 2016: Academy Sessions (12-2pm)
  • October 28, 2016: Academy Sessions (12-2pm)
  • November 4, 2016: Academy Sessions (12-2pm)
  • December 2, 2016: Academy Sessions (12-2pm)
  • January 20, 2017: Retreat (12-4pm)
  • February 3, 2017: Academy Session (12-2pm)
  • February 17, 2017: Academy Session (12-2pm)
  • March 3, 2017: Academy Session (12-2pm)
  • March 17, 2017: Academy Session (12-2pm)
  • March 31, 2017: Academy Session (12-2pm)
  • April 7, 2017: Academy Session (12-2pm)
  • April 21, 2017: Academy Session (12-2pm)
  • May 8-12, 2017: WCU  Leadership Tour

Applications will be  accepted until 5:00 pm on  May 31, 2016, at which time the WCU Leadership Academy Steering Committee will review applications and notify applicants in mid-June, 2016.  In addition to completing an online application, applicants will need to also submit a letter of support/recommendation from either their supervisor/department head/dean/director and updated resume/CV.
