A pair of workshops presented by WCU’s Hunter Library will examine how to digitize information and how to use geographic information systems.
Elizabeth Skene, digital initiatives librarian, will present the first one, “Basics of Digitization,” from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Monday, April 4, in Room 186 of Hunter Library. “This presentation will cover the equipment for digitization, best practices for scanning, file naming conventions and an introduction to digital preservation practices,” Skene said. There will be an opportunity for discussion and questions. Interested parties can register for the workshop at this link.
Rebecca Dobbs, instructor in human geography, will conduct the second workshop, “An Introduction to GIS (Geographic Information Systems),” from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in Room 354 of the Stillwell Building. The workshop is limited to the first 25 registrants and designed for beginners. Interested parties can register at this link.
