Members of the Western Carolina University community will have an opportunity to plan an interactive or entertaining activity that illuminates an innovation, issue or turning point from the 1960s for the WCU Magical Mystery Tour event to be held in January.
Part of WCU’s campuswide interdisciplinary learning theme for 2013-14, “1960s: Take It All In,” the tour will take place on the concourse of Ramsey Regional Activity Center on Thursday, Jan 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. Attendees will walk through an interactive retrospective that chronologically showcases social, political, technological, scientific, musical and artistic feats of humanity achieved in or connected to the 1960s.
Faculty and staff members can register online (link no longer active) to plan a stop on the tour that connects to their disciplines or interests. Possibilities could include scientific or technological perspectives of the space race; sociological, psychological, artistic or musical perspectives on the Beatles Invasion; or the historical or social entrepreneurship ties to the Civil Rights Movement.
In addition, faculty and staff members are asked to use an online form (link no longer active) to share how the tour event itself will be incorporated into student discussions, assignments or activities.
