Art museum offers desktop wallpaper from permanent collection

Tired of your computer desktop’s same old same old? Spice things up with a selection of desktop wallpaper offerings from the Fine Art Museum at WCU.

The museum, working with former WCU graphic designer Katie Martin, created eight desktop options of work from the museum’s permanent collection. The selections showcase a variety of work and include images of sculpture, collage, prints and paintings. All are available at www.wcu.edu/museum/115.htm (link no longer active).

The wallpapers, in addition to being an industry trend, help the WCU community become more familiar with the work and to develop a sense of ownership, said Denise Drury, interim museum director.

“I wanted to put the artwork in the hands of people here at Western Carolina and the community,” Drury said. “Not everyone has the option to come to the museum every day. This was a way to make the permanent collection accessible to people.”
