Jerry Miller, the Whitmire Distinguished Professor of Environmental Science, was recently appointed to a state science panel and quoted in an article that appeared with a series in the News and Observer.
Miller was appointed to and selected as vice chair of the Science Advisory Panel for the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The panel was formed to provide input on mitigation and quality of aquatic restoration projects.
Miller also was quoted in an article by series of articles by reporter Dan Kane that offered an in-depth look at stream restoration projects in North Carolina. The articles are described as a three-part report that contends a state program to offset environmental damage from development is effective, and are available online at the News and Observer’s “Washed Away” website.
