Bike to Work Day in Sylva set for May 17

Sylva-area cyclists are joining the League of American Bicyclists, the national organization of bicyclists, to celebrate May as National Bike Month by encouraging community members to try riding their bikes to work on Tuesday, May 17.

Participants in the fourth annual Bike to Work Day in Sylva are encouraged to meet at or stop by Motion Makers Bicycle Shop in downtown Sylva on the morning of Tuesday, May 17,  for refreshment or to join others riding to the same destination.

In addition, participants can take their bicycle helmet to the Mad Batter Bakery & Café in Cullowhee between 7:30 and 10 a.m. for a free pastry.

More information, including recommended bicycle routes in Sylva, is posted on the Motion Makers’ Bike to Work Web site and will be posted on the event Facebook page.
